Daniella Rand, Managing Director, Financial Advisor
Daniella Rand has been a top-ranked financial advisor since 2001 and has won numerous awards and recognitions, including Chairman’s Club, Barron’s Top Women Advisors list, President’s Club, and Managing Director.
She specializes in helping retirees navigate the complexities of retirement and provides retirement planning for those nearing retirement. When she founded The Rand Group nearly 15 years ago, she focused on building a non-commissioned-based team that could deliver top-notch financial planning and client services at a reasonable cost.
In her free time, Daniella travels globally, often to untouched parts of the world. She also swims, trains with her personal trainer, and volunteers through Episcopal Community Services at various homeless shelters throughout San Francisco.

James Sutton, Analyst – Investments
James Sutton, in the financial services industry since 2009, joined Daniella Rand and The Rand Group in 2015. He is highly experienced in portfolio allocation; wealth management (including retirement and education planning); and insurance.
James graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2005 with a degree in Economics. In early 2018, James obtained the Accredited Wealth Management AdvisorSM designation from the College for Financial Planning.
In his spare time, James enjoys camping, snowboarding, and hiking as well as quality time with friends and family.

Ryan Shilling, Analyst – Investments
In 2016, Ryan Shilling joined The Rand Group after spending four years at an independent financial services firm in Minnesota.
An advocate of professional growth to better serve clients, Ryan obtained his Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) license in 2018 and is currently pursuing the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®).
As an analyst for The Rand group, Ryan serves as the team’s direct resource for comprehensive portfolio reviews; financial plan execution and tracking; communication on capital markets; investment research and recommendations; model portfolio creation; lending strategies; tax optimization; estate planning considerations; and operational execution.
A native of Minneapolis, Ryan now lives in San Francisco and enjoys skiing, biking, playing ice hockey, and spending quality time with friends and family.
